In the year of its twentieth anniversary, the cult super-genre band Vertigo comes out with a new studio album, its sixth on Animal Music. Vertigo is the winner of three Angel Awards for Jazz Album of the Year and three nominations for the same award. On the Czech scene, Vertigo has been constantly surprising and free to come up with new form, content and sound for its recordings. At the same time, its members are simultaneously presenting their award-winning solo projects (Dorota Barová, Vojtěch Procházka) or are members of many other outstanding formations (Muff, Tara Fuki, Wojtek Mazolewski Quintet, Freetown Quartet, Martin Brunner Band, Čikori and others).
The album "Nic" brings dense and colourful, but also minimalist compositions, in which styles and moods nestle into each other to create one compact whole with typical Vertigo poetics, insight and the same "pull on the ear" of the attentive listener who likes to be surprised, amused and reassured that Vertigo is only one. Most of the compositions are again by saxophonist Marcel Bárta, two are by pianist Vojtěch Procházka and one is by bassist Rastislav Uhrík. The album was recorded in July 2022 at Sono Records Doupě studio in collaboration with sound master Milan Cimfe. The band will also present it in London in November 2022 at the famous jazz club Pizza Express, where it will visit thanks to its victory at the Central European Jazz Showcase in 2021.
