Bára Zmeková, support: Steven Johnston

Composer and singer moving in her songs with original Czech lyrics between jazz, folk, classical music and fine electronics. She lightens the fragility and urgency with humour and insight, and alternates piano playing with synths.

Bára Zmeková has confirmed her position on the Czech alternative music scene with the release of her second album Lunaves (2019, Tranzistor label), which not only topped the annual Radio 1 or Proglas charts, but was also ranked among the musical achievements of the year in Headliner and MusicServer magazines, but it also earned Bara two nominations for the Music Academy of Popular Music's Anděl award in two main categories - Solo Artist and Discovery of the Year. Bára and her band also convinced the international jury of the Czech Music Crossroads festival that the album Lunaves is not just a quality recording, when she won both possible awards, the audience award and the jury award, and was subsequently selected to represent the Czech music scene at the largest international showcase festival of world music WOMEX 2020.

She is currently finishing her third studio album, Jediný na světě (The Only One in the World), which will be released in March 2024 on her home label Tranzistor.
